How Do Natural Disaster Occurs? - Effects and Prevention

What is Natural Disaster ?

Accident that unfortunate happening can take place anywhere at home, at school, on the road or in the playground due to natural reason these are called disaster.

Disaster that occur due to natural forces are called natural disaster.

We have no control over such happening disaster. Natural disasters takes place due to change in temperature pressure on the magnetic forces of the earth close cyclones earthquakes and volcanoes etc., are some natural calamities we can reduce the effect of natural calamities by preparing ourselves in advance.

Earthquakes

Our planet is made of different layers the outermost part of the Earth is the crust, which is made up of large block called plates. Such plates float over the inner part mentle which is in the form of a hot molten liquid.

The place of the cross fit together sometimes the mental which keeps moving slowly makes the players to slide past each other this cause an earthquake and the ground shakes.

Effects:

• Breaking of dams can result of floods.
• Electric wires get fall resulting in short-circuit and fires.
• Cracks on the walls of buildings. These cracks may reason to the collapse of the buildings.

Prevention :

• Earthquake prone areas should have wooden houses. That stand a chance of remaining upright during an earthquake.
• Avoid entering a building during storm time even after the earthquake stops. The damage portion make chances to fall later.
• If you feel the ground is shaking then move out of the building or from your house to an open space, ensure away from electric poles, trees, buildings etc.

Tsunami

Tsunami is a Japanese word that means 'Harbour Wave'. Tsunami is a series of waves caused by undersea earthquakes, volcanic eruption, landslide, etc.

Effects:

• Causes mass scale of life loss and property due to flooding of land by sea water.
• Affected on transportation, communication and electric wires falls and roads get to flooded.

Prevention:

• Try to move in a safe places that are at Higher levels.
• If pre-warning is given then moved to safe place.

Floods and Cyclones

In some parts of India, very heavy rainfall during monsoon. due to this the water in the river overflows onto the nearby lands causing floods. 

In coastal areas, heavy rainfall is accompanied with very strong winds this is called Cyclone. in India, states like Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, and Assam pronto cyclones and floods.

Effects:

• Strong cyclone winds cause land slide due to this reason damaging buildings and houses.
• People get washed away. Some people become homeless and so also the animals.
• Land get immersed in water and crop is destroyed.
• Electric wires, communication network and water supply get affected.

Prevention:

• A good drainage system can prevent water overflowing and can control flooding to some extent
• Trees should be planted in mass scale as they slow down the floods.
• Check Dams should be built across the river to check the flow of water.
